NZ Essays & Anthologies

Signals 2013 is the second edition of the prose and poetry journal of the Michael King Young Writers’ Programme. It contains some excellent writing from senior school students around Auckland—North, South and Central.

Signals 2013 was launched on 7 December at the National Library Building in Parnell by Guest of Honour, Anne Kennedy.

During the Year, Young Writers’ Programme Co-ordinators and Tutors, Ros Ali and Jo Emeney, invite guest writers to give master classes, or work alongside students during full-day workshops. This year, our guest writers included Charlotte Grimshaw, Anna Hodge, Sarah Laing, Don McGlashan, Courtney Sina Meredith, Paula Morris, Sue Orr, Robert Sullivan, Grace Taylor and Albert Wendt.

The Programme was the brainchild of the late, great Dame Chris Cole Catley, and this edition of the journal, like everything to do with the Young Writers’ Programme, is dedicated to her.
