The Pocket Guide Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / ME: Key Facts and Tips for Improved Health

Author(s): Dr. Rosamund Vallings

Health

In 2012 Dr Vallings wrote her first book, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME: Symptoms, Diagnosis, Management, at the time the most comprehensive publication available on CFS/ME.

Dr Vallings has now produced a condensed version of the book, omitting the complex scientific material, and with more readable accounts of the condition - aimed at readers who may struggle to find the sustained concentration needed to absorb complex information. This concise and easy-to-read book will help anyone with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME manage their illness and improve their overall wellbeing.

It explains how CFS/ME is diagnosed and the different ways it may affect the body, so that people with CFS/ME will be able to more actively take charge of their health and create the best chance for recovery. Based on sound research, this book contains strategies for dealing with specific symptoms as well as suggestions for managing sleep, easing back into exercise, and eating optimally for recovery. It also deals with many other non-medical issues, such as education, work and money worries; managing everyday tasks like shopping and driving; maintaining a social life; and communicating with others about this commonly misunderstood condition. It includes specific information on caring for someone with CFS/ME, especially the severely ill, and provides overviews of medication and alternative treatments, as well as a summary of the latest research and search for a cure. Dr Vallings draws on her wisdom and experience to provide practical help and sound advice in this easily managed format.
